Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has been sentenced to life behind bars for murder.  The 38-year-old, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was found guilty last month of murdering an old associate, Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, in August 2011, according to reports.

The star – who has previously rubbed shoulders with music A listers like Jay Z and Rihanna, will have to serve 35 years behind bars.

Williams was reportedly killed after he went to Kartel’s home to discuss two missing illegal hand guns.

According to BBC:

A jury found the 38-year-old, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, guilty for the death of an associate in March.

Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams was killed after being asked to Kartel’s home to discuss two missing illegal hand guns.

A key piece of evidence was a text message said to be sent from Kartel’s phone.

It claimed Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams had been chopped up into so many pieces his body would never be found.

Kartel has worked with some of the biggest names in music, and is known as Worl’Boss by his fans.

The singer was first charged by police in 2011 for being involved in the deaths of two men, one of which was dropped due to lack of evidence, according to reports.

Kartel plus another three men were then charged with the second death – that of Clive Williams – and the trial has been ongoing since November.

The star has been held on remand since 2011, but has reportedly continued to record songs from his cell using a smart phone.

He was previously arrested in 2011 on drug charges, which were later dropped.
