Wu-Tang Clan to Release A Single One Million Dollar Copy of Next Album

Blog : March 26th, 2014

Ready for the craziest news you’ve likely heard in 2013? Wu-Tang Clan has a new album. No, it’s not the delayed A Better Tomorrow. Instead, this 31-track, 128-minute album was allegedly recorded in the country of Morocco, and they’re ONLY selling 1 copy worth one million dollars.

“Somewhere on the outskirts of Marrakech, Morocco, inside a vault housed beneath the shadow of the Atlas Mountains, there sits an engraved silver-and-nickel box with the potential to spawn a shift in the way music is consumed and monetized,” O’Malley-Greenburg begins, unveiling details of a one-of-one album by the Wu-Tang Clan, produced by longtime affiliate Cilvaringz. The artwork and CD packaging was reportedly designed by esteemed artist Yahya, who has a long history of royal commissions. The said creation took a reported three months to create. The title of the Wu’s second double LP? The Wu-Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.

“We’re about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before,” RZA said to Forbes. “We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music. We’re making a single-sale collector’s item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king.”

The album will go on a tour in museums, galleries, festivals like many other art exhibits and patrons can listen in for what’s expected to be between $30 and $50. If you can’t make it to one of these exhibits you’ll probably be out of luck waiting on a leak. Visitors will be searched of recoding devices before entering and will probably be forced to listen on headphones.

Once the album is finished touring, the Clan plans to sell it up for up to $1 million where, if bought by the right person, could then be put out for normal purchase. Check back later for more details.
